Nearly all 4GL programs require access to a database server, and so it is necessary to provide Lycia with the connection details for that server. There are several different methods for this; which one you use is dependent on your platform.
Since Querix 4GL is a complete implementation of Informix 4GL, all database connections are made to emulate Informix connection conventions, which ensures that your 4GL source code requires no changes to access multiple RDBMSs.
Lycia uses the Informix DB driver by default.
If you want to set another database, you must specify it as a value of the LYCIA_DB_DRIVER environment variable or pass the corresponding option to -d [ --database-driver ] for Lycia command line tools (qfgl, qlink, qrun).
