Exporting to an archive files

LyciaStudio provides a wide range of exporting opportunities that allow you to move projects, programs, and files from your workspace to other locations.

Archive files can be used to export (and then move around and import back to LyciaStudio) several files or programs at once.

To export an object from your workspace to an archive file, please follow these steps.

Step 1

Start the Export wizard in one of the ways described here.

Step 2

In the opened window, select General Archive File and press Next:

Step 3

Select the resources you want to export to an archive file:

You can Select or Deselect All files in the directory by using the corresponding buttons or reduce selection only to a definite file type (or types) after pressing Filter Types...:

You'll get the corresponding message unless you select any file/files:

Step 4

Specify the export destination - the archive file to which the 4gl program or library will be exported :

You can type the file name directly, browse your file system for the necessary file, or select it in the list of the archive files which were already used for exporting:

Step 5

Specify additional options:

Save in zip format or Save in tar format - allows choosing the type of the archive file (depends on the operation system it is intended for).

Compress the contents of the file - when checked, allows compressing the file contents.

Create directory structure for files - when checked, the whole path to the exported file in the workspace will be reproduced in the destination directory:

Create only selected directories - when checked, only the selected folders will be created in the destination directory (by default, no folders are created, and the file alone is exported to the destination directory):

Step 6

After you press Finish, all the selected files will be copied and saved to the specified archive file so that you can move them to the new location.

The original files are not removed from your workspace and are still ready for use.
