Using Lycia Form Designer

As a graphical form editor, Lycia Form Designer provides full functionality for quick and easy design of your forms.

In Lycia Form Designer, you can work with

• .fm2 forms created in LFD or converted from the classic 4gl text format (.per)
• .ad2, .sm2, .tm2, or .tb2 forms created in LFD

Usually, LFD users use it to create, populate, design, and edit .fm2 forms.

For .fm2 (and other form files), you can

• add and remove a root container,
• add, edit, and remove containers and widgets,
• move container and widgets within the form,
• add, edit, and remove menu bars and toolbars (no more than one menu bar and/or one toolbar for one form),
• set and reset properties of any form element in order to change their look and feel at runtime,
• set actions for the form elements,
• view and edit screen records.

Bulk editing

Lycia Form Designer supports bulk editing:

1. You can select several form elements in the design area or in the Components pane.

   

2. To select a range of form element, you can SHIFT-click them. To select several non-neighboring form elements, you can CTRL-click them.

   

3. The more form elements you select at once, the less properties they have in common and, thus, the less properties you can edit simultaneously.

   

4. You cannot move several simultaneously selected form elements by drag-n-dropping but you can change their location by the corresponding properties in the Properties pane.
