Report Design perspective is a group of views and editors that allows creating data visualizations and fully-fledged interactive business reports.
Report Design perspective contains the tools needed for creating a report from scratch. As a result, you get a standard BIRT XML report file, that can be deployed with the BIRT engine.
Report Design perspective includes 8 views and an editor:
Palette → |
contains standard report items you can add to your report by dragging and dropping |

Data Explorer → |
shows data sources, data sets, and report parameters |

Resource Explorer → |
allows viewing all the libraries within the resource folder |

Navigator → |
allows navigating through your projects |

allows exploring the structure of your report |

allows changing appearance of the report items |

Problems → |
displays warnings and errors encountered when building a project together with their relevant information (like resources, paths, and locations, etc.) |

captures warnings and errors logged by plug-ins |

allows creating the BIRT reports and data visualizations, allows viewing the current report in Layout, Master Page, Script and XML Source layouts |
When you open the Report Design perspective, the following views open automatically:
§ Palette, Data Explorer, Resource Explorer, Navigator, Outline and Property Editor are the views associated directly with the perspective,
§ Problems and Error Log are the general views.
