Specifies the directory which contains sub-directories in which your Informix client is installed.
Syntax
INFORMIXDIR=<path>
Usage
INFORMIXDIR specifies the directory, which contains subdirectories in which your Informix product files are installed.
To be able to connect to Informix database you should always set INFORMIXDIR. Verify that INFORMIXDIR is set to the full path name of the directory in which you installed your database server. If you have multiple versions of a database server, set INFORMIXDIR to the directory with the required version. If the Informix server is not installed locally, specify the path to the Informix database driver in INFORMIXDIR.
INFORMIXDIR applies at runtime (inet.env) and at compilation (env.properties). You can set INFORMIXDIR in system environment variables but it is not recommended unless you have experience in such modifications.
The default path of the Informix client on UNIX is the following:
INFORMIXDIR=/opt/IBM/informix
All the file names you use in your 4gl development must be platform-independent.
If you use platform-dependent names (e.g., combine upper and lower case, use colons, finish names with a full stop, etc.), please remember that they might cause different problems when you move your project to another platform.
