LyciaDesktop

LyciaDesktop is the Querix multi-platform thin client which allows users to render and use 4gl applications as desktop ones.

LyciaDesktop is provided together with the most recent developments and upgrades. Besides, it easily combines graphical user interface, dynamic documents, and media contents.

Currently, LyciaDesktop is provided for Windows and Linux.

As compared to LyciaWeb, LyciaDesktop has these advantages:

1. LD supports Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
2. With LD, you can work with files located on the file system (open file dialogs, read data from the files, save new files, etc.).
3. With LD, you can use built-in functions - winexec() and winexecwait(), winshellexec() and winshelexecwait().
4. With LD, you can open, empty, and close the clipboard.
5. With LD, you can set and retrieve values of the specified system environment variables.
6. With LD, you can retrieve the name of the user associated with the current thread.

LyciaDesktop is installed as a part of the Lycia installation package.

Running LyciaDesktop

To be able to run a 4gl application from the LyciaDesktop, you must run it first.

There several ways to run LyciaDesktop:

• from the Start menu in the Querix menu group

• via a command line

• by the shortcut that you can create on your desktop after you have installed Lycia or LyciaDesktop to your computer
