Lycia Installation: Basics
Installation Overview
The installation of Lycia Development Suite comes in three main stages:
- Prepare Your System: Ensure that both your hardware and software meet Lycia system requirements, and install the required software;
- Install Lycia: Install base Lycia package using Querix Package Manager (QPM);
- Install Lycia IDE client: Install Lycia VS Code Extension (LVSCE) in your VS Code instance.

Querix Package Manager (QPM) Brief
Using Querix Package Manager (QPM), you can install, update, and uninstall Lycia as a whole or its components.
It is provided in two forms:
- Command Line (CLI) QPM - for Linux and Windows;
- GUI QPM - for Windows only.
Attention: If your Lycia was installed using the old (pre-QPM) installer, please contact the Querix support team on the Querix website, via our service desk, or by e-mail (support@querix.com) for update assistance.
Lycia Components Included in QPM
With Querix Package Manager, you can install these Lycia components:

A toolset for compiling, assembling, and linking C code for native OS Windows applications. |

A tool for customizing the look and feel of 4GL applications (OS Windows only). |

A server software that provides licensing management in virtual environments. Note: The KMS server can only be run on a physical machine.

|
A library to speed up your 4GL development by reducing the amount of coding work, automating usual tasks, extending your 4GL program functionality, and improving user experience for the end user. |
Installation Presets
QPM offers several setup presets (available from both QPM CLI and QPM GUI) to cover every usage scenario:
- Development system – with this preset, you can install all the Lycia components to get a complete development toolkit and use all the Lycia development potential;
- Runtime server – with this preset, you can install the components necessary for putting your 4GL applications into production;
- KMS Server – this preset is made for running applications;

Custom – with this preset, you can choose the specific Lycia components for your installation. Custom preset is also used to uninstall Lycia. Note that when you install one Lycia component, you only get access to the functionality provided by this component.
